2016 hasn’t been the best year to the world. But between finishing the first year of my Ph.D., living in the Pacific Northwest this summer, and passing qualifying exams, I tried to make the most of the tumultuous year.
Things I think about, read, and write.
I spent my summer working at Pacific Northwest National Lab, but also made some time to get outside and explore more of the west coast. My trips included a few hikes, Los Angeles for my birthday, Portland, Seattle, the B Reactor, LIGO, and KDD 2016 in San Francisco.
This summer I’ll be an NSIP Ph.D. intern at Pacific Northwest National Lab working in the Data Sciences & Analytics (DSA) group.
As my first year of graduate school comes to a close, I spent some time reflecting on my experiences over the past year.
How I started a daily journal to document every day of my graduate career and why I think journaling in general is a good idea.
